The first Frenchman to fly in space, Chretien served twice as a research-cosmonaut on Russian missions; STS-86 will be his first flight on the Space Shuttle. STS-86 will be the seventh docking of the Space Shuttle with the Russian Space Station Mir. Liftoff of the Space Shuttle Atlantis on Mission STS-86 is targeted for Sept. 25 Français : KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, Floride — Vêtu de sa combinaison orange de lancement et d'entrée, Jean-Loup J.M. Chretien, spécialiste de la mission STS-86 du CNES, participe aux activités de l'essai de démonstration de compte à rebours terminal (TCDT) au Launch Pad 39A. Premier Français à voler dans l'espace, Chrétien a été deux fois chercheur-cosmonaute dans des missions russes ; STS-86 sera son premier vol sur la navette spatiale. STS-86 sera le septième amarrage de la navette spatiale avec la Station spatiale russe Mir. Le décollage de la navette spatiale Atlantis sur la mission STS-86 est prévu pour le 25 septembre
